There is no combat in the game; Harry can only run and hide, and these chase segments are often frustrating. This title continues the story of the first Silent Hill , and there are some truly disturbing moments, especially towards the end. Much like Resident Evil did three years earlier, Silent Hill exploded onto the scene and forever changed the landscape of horror video games. Many would even call it the peak of video game horror. Silent Hill 2 is a masterclass in psychological horror done right, delicately layering symbolism with emotion in a way that makes its point yet never becomes too heavy handed.
The iconic monster Pyramid Head is but one example of this - a way in which one might explain what the SH series is all about in a single image. Much of the time, the actual use of the item goes against the item's intended purpose, such as a hairdryer being used to electrocute a tentacle monster or a juice box being used to dislodge a garbage chute. Each game unfolds like a movie with several possible endings; the player's choices and often subconscious decisions they aren't aware of during the game determines which ending is shown.

Anyone who played the PS3 version is probably in bewilderment at how much worse this port can actually get.
Konami dropped the bomb twice on significant HD collections. While a compilation, it deserves mentioning for how wrong porting old games to modern hardware can go. Silent Hill 2 and 3 manage to run significantly worse on the PS3 and Xbox than on their original platforms. The developers received an incomplete source code, meaning bugs fished out and fixed by the original developers were once again present. With the limited development time available to them, there was no way for them to fix all the flaws, leading to the compromised final release.
